Photo Friday Theme – Plant Kingdom
I had to go back in my archives as the plant kingdom around me is dormant as winter approaches. This is from our family trip to Key West in May 2013 where we stopped to visit the Hemingway House. Now I have been here many times before and I didn’t come back for the beautiful lush landscape with tropical trees and flowers, no I came back with Megan to visit with the six toe kitties that roam Ernest Hemmingway’s estate. I want to look at all the things that inspired him while Megan makes some new furry friends….

theme – what I found
We found this statue of a Saint while my husband John and I were cleaning up our yard this Spring. The previous owners had lived here more than 20 years and their grandson grew up in the house, so there are signs everywhere of him growing up… From an old Tonka dump truck to the treehouse that had been torn down to rocks stacked to make a fire pit. We both went through things thoughtfully and found spots to place among the backyard.
This one is my favorite… I believe he is St. Francis. He is known as the patron saint of animals, the environment, and is one of the two patron saints of Italy . He is also known for his love of the Eucharist, his sorrow during the Stations of the Cross, and for the creation of the Christmas creche or Nativity Scene.
theme: Spring by Kim
My first winter in New Jersey has been 98% with snow on the ground since the day I moved in late November. Other than getting used to the coldness in contrast to Florida Sunshine, it has been a beautiful landscape. Peaceful, reflective, crisp are all words to describe the winter as long as I’m not driving in it!! I am however ready to thaw out.
The sprouting bulbs I noticed last week – what a surprise! The first sign of spring. This shot reminds me of the Secret Garden where they plant the bulbs in the dead garden with hopes of what Spring will bring. Of course it snowed again the day before spring began, but that little sign gives me hope that a new season is on it’s way! PS: Oh, I saw a robin in my pine tree too – made me smile
