Photo Friday Theme- Black and White by Kim O’Neill
This photo was taken on a recent trip to Ireland where John and I celebrated our 25th anniversary. We were exploring the seaside town of Kinsale with it’s quaint streets and I noticed this detail in one of the windows.
Kinsale has an abundance of lovely, artsy shoppes and excellent restaurants. My favorite meal of our trip was at a restaurant named Fishy Fishy. The salmon was the best I have ever tasted and the mussel appetizer was so sweet, I’ve now become a fan! Brilliant!

The kind of rain we knew is a thing of the past –
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say,
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like race-horses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no-one.
Photo Friday Theme – Sunlight by Kim O’Neill
After dropping Megan at her summer job at Camp Kiniya, John and I headed over to Burlington on Lake Champlain. It was a great to hang out on the dock and watch the sun set over the lake. Every once in awhile you your camera picks up a beautiful ray of sunlight and this was one of those moments.
Photo Friday Theme – Green by Kim O’Neill
This photo was taken on the west coast of Ireland in the area of Slieve League. Incredible shoreline and breathtaking cliffs made it a sight now to be missed (except for the other half of our group learning “Gaelic Football”) We even had the true movie experience where the bus had to wait for sheep to cross the road!
This was such a memorable trip. Today we leave again for Ireland… minus the bus and 60+. This time it’s a party of four driving ourselves into a new adventure.
PS: Wishing the Maureen/Caitlin’s girls from our last trip much success in Montreal for the 2014 Irish Dance Championships!
Theme – Simplicity by Kim O’Neill
“To find the universal elements enough; to find the air and the water exhilarating;
to be refreshed by a morning walk or an evening saunter. . .
to be thrilled by the stars at night; to be elated over a bird’s nest or a wildflower in spring
– these are some of the rewards of the simple life.”
- John Burroughs

P.S. On another Friday, June 13th, I kissed the love of my life for the first time! xoxoxoxo
Photo Friday Theme – Perspective by Kim
After a morning flight, I picked up my rental car and headed straight for the beach. A beautiful morning stroll on Hollywood Beach gave me the right perspective for my adventures ahead and fun perspective through the windows along the beach.
Photo Friday Theme – Movement by Kim
This photo for the theme movement I pulled out of the irish dancing archives at an event before a Florida Panther’s game. I used to love to photograph irish dance. I worked out the timing on all of the dances and knew when to catch those incredible leaps the girls achieve in their reels and jigs!
My daughter Caitlin no longer dances, but I look back at the times with our friends and the beautiful dance as some of my favorites.
PS: Happy Birthday Caitlin!
Photo Friday Theme – Early Morning
My favorite time is to be the first up in the morning, put on the coffee and walk outside with my camera.
Those peaceful moments of Gods beauty in nature as a new day dawns, inspire me and a perfect place for photography.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Phillippians 4:6-7
Photo Friday Theme – Shadows by Kim
Meet Rue named after a character in the Hunger Games book by my daughter Meg. She is always looking for the warmest spot in the house, so finding a shadow nearby is not hard! What is hard is to not get her half eye-closed or doing that cat thing where they turn away. (I thought teenagers could have attitude!) Actually she is very cuddly and loving. The “Catitude” only comes occasionally in proportion to how loving she is!
I love this photo as she is snuggled up to the girl’s old stuffed animals.
Runner Up: Bailey’s Fish Obsession:
This shot is in memory of the 10 large fish that survived the last two winters but not the giant heron who finished them off this morning! Bailey sadly was looking for them this morning with nothing to bark at! I love her shadow in the water as she looks like a true predator!!
Photo Friday Theme – Signs Of Summer by Kim O’Neill
Spring is finally in full bloom in the Northeast, so I enjoy taking my dog outside first thing in the morning. That day I walked out past our pond only to find the large goldfish I’ve named “Big Momma” dead on a rock! I then cautiously looked around my backyard as we have had black bear and wildcats prowling through our neighborhood. As I turned to the front, I saw this beautiful heron perched in the trees. I had only wished I had my zoom lens!!! People have warned me about herons but this is the first I have spotted in the year and a half I have moved here. I read that now through July is their breeding time and like to position themselves near bodies of water (which there are many nearby) So with the trees sprouting their blooms and leaves, the birds and the bees are humming bringing summer around the corner.
Afterward: I took out fishing wire and strung it across our tiny manmade pond in hopes to preserve the remaining fish. I found out there were four casualties that morning and all I could hear was “The Circle of Life” singing in my head by Elton John… Life in the woods!
